The Los Angeles Flex Users Group is an informal non-profit organization of Flex developers and enthusiasts. We typically meet on the second Tuesday of every month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and discuss issues related to Flex and Flex development. Membership is completely informal, and anybody is free to attend. Please join our LA Flex Google Group to be notified of upcoming meetings via email.

Not only will you learn some critical Flex skills next week, you'll also have the opportunity to win a two-day introductory Flex training session, so be sure not to miss it! I'll share more details about the training on Tuesday.

Next Tuesday's Meeting (5/13): Drag & Drop with Adobe AIR

One of the cool features that Adobe AIR provides is the ability to drag & drop from the desktop to your AIR application and from your AIR application to the desktop. You can also drag and drop between application windows. Next Tuesday I'll show you how it's done. Here are some of the things I'll cover:

  • Dragging an image file from the desktop into an AIR app and displaying the image
  • Dragging an image from the AIR app to the desktop
  • Drag & drop a file into an AIR app and display it's contents

Please Welcome Tom Bray as the new LA Flex User Group Manager

Hello guys,

first off I want to thank everyone in the Los Angeles Flex community for making LAFlex such a blast to run. As many of you may know from my announcement at the last meeting, I am going to be a dad in June. Yay!. And with all the work of managing our syndicated tech jobs service, which is starting to take off, working on some huge SearchCoders Flex RIA consulting projects, and starting a family I had to cut back on something, and LAFlex was it.
